Medical and dental equipment financing
Clinical equipment is the most common reason practices call. Partners finance it much like other equipment, with the device as collateral, and many have programs built around healthcare assets:
- Dental: chairs and delivery units, intraoral scanners, cone-beam CT and panoramic imaging, sterilization, milling units.
- Medical: ultrasound and X-ray, exam tables, lab analyzers, EKG and monitoring equipment, practice IT.
- Chiropractic and therapy: adjusting and decompression tables, therapy modalities, imaging.
Before you call, run the dealer quote through the medical equipment payment calculator; it shows the monthly payment and total cost from price, down payment, rate and term. Then see equipment financing for loans, leases and EFAs compared.
Dental clinic and medical clinic build-outs
Opening or expanding a clinic means plumbing, electrical, cabinetry and sometimes shielding before the first patient. That work is usually funded with a term loan, with equipment financed separately against the equipment. Partners will want the lease, the contractor's bid and an equipment list. Practices buying an existing practice face a different review, centered on the seller's patient base and collections.
Bridging the wait for insurance payments
Insurers and government payers take time. A practice that sees patients today may not be paid for weeks, and a new provider may wait longer while credentialing is completed. Working capital covers that gap for a single event, such as a new hire's first months, and a line of credit covers repeated ones. Partners will ask for accounts receivable aging and your payer mix.
What partners ask practices for
- Equipment quotes with model numbers
- Bank statements and tax returns
- An aging report for receivables and the practice's payer mix
- The practice's lease
- For new practices, the providers' background and a projection
Underwriting standards vary from partner to partner, and none of them is Pinecroft's to set.
Comparing clinical equipment offers
Equipment vendors often offer their own financing alongside the quote, and it is worth comparing with at least one outside partner. Put both on the same footing: the total of all payments, any balloon or buyout at the end, and what is bundled in. Vendor packages sometimes roll a service contract, software licenses or training into the payment, which makes the monthly figure look higher or lower than the equipment alone would be. Ask for the equipment price and the extras priced separately.
Watch for deferred-payment offers, where nothing is due for the first months. They help a new practice ramp up, but interest may still accrue during the deferral, and the remaining payments are larger. And for leases, ask what happens at the end: return, renew or buy, and at what price. A practice that expects to upgrade imaging within a few years may prefer a lease it can hand back.
Practices outside physician and dental offices
Optometry, chiropractic, physical therapy, veterinary and medical spa practices buy similar equipment and face similar timing gaps, although partners treat each differently. Tell us the specialty on the first call.
Local data and contacts give the county picture, and funding by sector covers other trades.
